This includes apples, bananas, pears, oranges, grapefruit, satsuma's, sultanas, raisins, pineapple, mango, kiwi fruit, strawberries, raspberries, blackcurrant's, nectarines, peaches, melons, star fruit etc
  • Fruit juice – either make homemade fruit juices or smoothies from fresh fruit, or drink ready-made juices. Make sure ready-made juices are labeled as being ‘pure’ or ‘unsweetened’.
  • Vegetables – eat any vegetables including fresh, frozen or canned in water (without salt added). This includes carrots, onions, turnip, swede, sprouts, cabbage, peppers, mushrooms, sweet corn, peppers, leeks, courgette's, broccoli, cauliflower, salad, tomatoes, cucumber, spring onions etc
  • Beans and lentils – eat any beans, including those that have been dried or canned in water. This includes red kidney, haricot, cannelloni, butter, black eye, pinto, red lentils, green lentils and brown lentils
  • Tofu and Quorn
  • Oats – sprinkle oats over fresh fruit or use to make porridge, sweetened with honey and fresh fruit
  • Potatoes – all types
  • Brown rice and rice noodles
  • Rye crackers, rice cakes and oatcakes
  • Fresh fish – eat any fresh fish including cod, plaice, mackerel, salmon, lobster, crab, trout, haddock, tuna, prawns, Dover sole, red mullet, halibut, lemon sole, monkfish, swordfish etc. Canned fish in water is suitable too e.g. salmon or tuna
  • Unsalted nuts – eat any including Brazil, peanuts, almonds, cashew, hazel nuts, macadamia, pecans, pine nuts, pistachio, walnuts etc
  • Unsalted seeds – eat any including sunflower and pumpkin
  • Plain popcorn – without sugar or salt
  • Live natural yogurt
  • Extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar
  • Garlic, ginger and fresh herbs
  • Ground black pepper
  • Honey
  • Water – at least 2 liters a day. Tap or mineral water is fine.
  • Herbal or fruit teas

I make my own diet plan

I pretty much know what I need to cut out when I start packing on pounds so I don't follow a set diet plan. If I eat a lot of take out, fast food, fried foods, pasta, etc ... I start to put on weight. If I cut back on those things I start to lose weight.
For dinner most nights I have lean meats as suggested by South Beach and fresh vegetables. I bring leftovers to work. I don't bother myself with worrying if the vegetables I am eating are too high in carbs. I figure vegies are just good for me. I eat fruit for desserts. I cut back things I love like white bread with lots of butter, tortillas, pasta

First of all, you need to be on a low carb diet.

Don't let anyone terrorize you out of eating correctly. Limit your carbs to fresh vegetables, berries, nuts, dairy and an occasional piece of fruit. Many diabetics willsee their disease recede entirely if they follow that eating plan. Avoid sugar, fruit juice, potatoes, rice, and bread. If you must have some of the above on occassion, stick to mixed grains. Avoid both regular soda with sugar and diet drinks of any kind - they both lead to metabolic syndrome. Caffeine causes blood sugar spikes in Type II diabetics, so avoid coffee as well.
My husband was diabetic. Once I got him on Atkins, it was gone

I want to lose a few pounds before my cousin in law's wedding..
anyone tried it before?
here's the plan:
Remember: This diet should only be followed for 7 days at a time, with at least two weeks in between.
Day One:
Fruit: Eat all of the fruit you want (except bananas). Eat only your soup and the fruit for the first day. For drinks- unsweetened teas, cranberry juice and water.
Day Two:
Vegetables: Eat until you are stuffed will all fresh, raw or cooked vegetables of your choice. Try to eat leafy green vegetables and stay away from dry beans, peas and corn
